War of words on social media platform-Facebook, between separate groups linked with political parties on Sunday took bloody turn when two youths were shot at by a person in the state capital, a senior police officer said.
The incident took place near Mahadevghat falling in limits of DD Nagar police station this evening.
“Exchange of heated words between two groups linked with political parties on Facebook turned serious and a youth identified as Arun Yadav opened fire leaving two youths injured. The victims identified as Tushar Pandey and Pratap Chandrakar have suffered bullet injury of their leg after Arun Yadav opened fire from a country-made pistol,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur.
Police have arrested Arun Yadav and a minor boy in connection with the shooting, averred a police source.
According to police sources, the inured youths, who are undergoing treatment at a private hospital, are reported to be under constant medical observation. After being informed about the crime, which rocked the city, senior police personnel including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amresh Kumar Mishra, ASP (City) Prafull Kumar Thakur, DSP (Crime) Abhishek Maheshwari, Purani Basti City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Krishna Kumar Patel and along with the sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) rushed to the spot to undertake investigation at the crime scene and collect probable evidence.
In a wake of the incident, alert was sounded in the area to maintain law and order and roads close to the area have been barricaded to nab the assailant.
Till report was last file, DD Nagar police was completing requisite formalities for registering an offence in this connection under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
