Woman naxal killed

Raipur, May 8
In another setback to Maoists movement, security forces on Wednesday said to have eliminated two ultras including a female cadre, in insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. However, senior officials stated that troopers have recovered only a body of woman naxal clad in uniform and anticipated the possibility that body of another naxal killed in the encounter might have taken by the cadres.
It is to be mentioned here that a specially raised local force of women commandos named as ‘Danteshwari Ladake’ (fighters of Goddess Danteshwari), were also involved in the operation, averred senior police officials. Following a tip-off about presence of naxals in very large number, a heavy contingent of STF and DRG, including ‘Danteshwari Ladake’ launched an operation leading to the success.

According to police, police have recovered one body of a woman naxal along with two firearms after an encounter that took place at forest close to village Gonderas near Dantewada-Sukma border. A joint squad of Special Task Force (STF) and District Reserve Guard (DRG) undertaking anti-naxal exercise was targeted by ultras following which troopers launched retaliatory action. While undertaking search at the spot of encounter, which lasted for around one hour, security personnel recovered body of a woman naxal along with one Insas rifle and a 12 bore gun. Moreover, the team has also recovered ammunitions, naxal literature and other stuffs of daily use.
