Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that students of NCC get to learn best qualities such as patriotism, discipline, bravery, unity, and accountability towards society, which stays with them for life. Chief Minister was addressing the felicitation programme of 126 cadets of NCC Raipur Group, held at Government Engineering College in Sejbahar of capital city Raipur today. On behalf of NCC Directorate of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, these 126 cadets had performed excellently in the parade of national programme of Republic Day held in New Delhi on January 26, which is why this felicitation programme was organized today. In this group, 38 cadets were from Raipur group. Raipur Group won prestigious ‘Chief Minister Championship Banner’ for their tremendous performance in national parade of Republic Day. Chief Minister gave Chief Minister Championship Banner and Trophy to Raipur Group. He felicitated the cadets of Indore, Jabalpur and other groups for their excellent performance in different categories.
Chief Minister said that he was also a NCC cadet during school days. As NCC cadet, he had learned qualities such as discipline, leadership and courage. After becoming NCC cadet, his personality enhanced and developed. Chief Minister said that these qualities are major life skills, and every NCC cadet should work on developing and excelling these skills. Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that this year, 126 cadets of NCC Directorate of Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh were trained by Raipur group in November-December 2017 and prepared for national programme of Republic Day. These cadets participated in various programmes and competitions of Republic Day event in New Delhi and won many medals.
Chief Minister said that two battalions of NCC is being established in Rajnandgaon and Korba, and special academy of NCC will be soon opened in Lakholi village of Aarang block in Raipur district. There are only four such training academies in the country. Additional Director of NCC Directorate Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh General Major General Mr. Mukesh K Dutta and Group Commander of NCC Chhattisgarh Brigadier DB Pani also addressed the programme. Directorate of Public Instructions Mr. S Prakash, In-charge Officers of local NCC units, Vice-Chancellor of the university, senior officers and prominent citizens were present in the programme.
