STF eliminates one naxal in Bijapur, arrest a cadre alive

A team of Special Task Force of Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday gunned down an ultra in an encounter took place in insurgency-hit Bijapur district.

Security personnel have arrested a naxal and recovered two firearm after encounter which took place in Bedre area of the district, said police sources.

After being informed about the encounter, reinforcement was dispatched to the spot, said sources, adding that no casaulity on side of forces was reported in the encounter.
In a wake of the encounter, a search operation has been launched to ensure peaceful election in the region scheduled to be held on November 12.

In another incident, ultras have triggered as many as seven blasts in naxal-hit Kanker district leaving a trooper of Border Security Force (BSF) injured.
As per information received, the injured jawan has been identified as sub inspector Mahendra Singh of 135th battalion of BSF.

The injured jawan has been rushed to nearby hospital for treatment where he was declared dead, said police sources.
