Security personnel held three ultras in Bijapur

A joint team of security personnel has arrested three ultras in insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh when they were trying to escape after triggering a blast, police said today.
The incident took place near Savnar river falling in limits of Gangaloor police station yesterday, police said, adding that an inspector identified as Manoj Singh and an assistant constable have suffered multiple injuries in the blast.
According to police, the arrested were identified as Padam Mangu (28), Taati Pandu (30) and Kursam Munna (26). A joint team of Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police undertaking anti-naxal exercise were targeted by ultras with firing coupled with an IED blast. Security personnel immediately launched a retaliatory action resulting in arrest of three naxals.
In this connection, police have registered case under relevant sections of IPC and sections of Explosives Substance Act and started investigation. The arrested cadres were today produced in a local court.
