Security personnel eliminate a naxal, recovered firearm in Sukma

A joint squad of Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) CoBRA and District Reserve Group (DRG) today eliminated a cadre of banned organisation and recovered firearm in insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
Security personnel undertaking anti-naxal exercise were targeted by armed ultras following which a retaliatory action was launched by the team, police said.
According to police, while undertaking search at the spot of encounter, which lasted for around half-an-hour, security personnel recovered body of a slain naxal who was later identified as Mandvi Bandi alias Mahesh. Besides, troopers have also recovered a firearm, live cartridges of SLR, naxal literatures and other stuffs. During the course of investigation, it came to light that Mahesh was associated with the banned organisation from 2004.
