Security personnel arrest seven ultras in Narayanpur, recovered firearms

A joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) arrested seven cadres of outlawed organisation and recovered firearms in worst naxal-hit Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
Following a tip-off about presence of ultras, the joint squad of security personnel swung into action and arreted seven ultras from forest between Toyameta and Kawanar, said Narayanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Singh.


SP Singh further informed that the arrested were identified as Benja Korram (40), Kulle Mandavi (40), Madda Podiyam (45), Aasi Usendi (35), Sukko Kashyap (45), Pandru Kuhrami (35) and Guddu Mandavi (25), all lower rank cadres. From their possession, security personnel have recovered a firearms and other articles. Acting on a tip-off about presence of ultras, a team was pressed into anti-naxal task and when security personnel reached forest between Toyameta and Kawanar, armed ultras opened indiscriminate firing prompting troopers to launch a retaliatory action.
While undertaking search after the encounter, security personnel rounded seven suspects who were trying to flee, said SP Singh, elaborating that they later revealed their identity as lower rank cadres.
The arrested naxals were involved in varrious crimes, added SP.
