“BJP got the opportunity of forming government which Congress was not allowed in Goa and Manipur. The RSS is capturing every democratic institution of the country and we have to defend our institutions and defeat that ideology,” said Congress President Rahul Gandhi while commenting on political situation surfaced after results of Karnataka elections.

Congress follow rule and regulation while contesting election but BJP (indicating recently held Karnataka election) did not follow any, said Gandhi while interacting with booth level workers in Durg today.

It is your responsibility to expose the hollow claims made by PM Modi to the people of Chhattisgarh, Congress President asked booth members.

Several people in the country believe that ballot paper method of election should be adopted again instead of EVM, said Gandhi while answering question of a party workers during interaction.

He further said that around 90 percent tickets in the state will be finalized by August 15, stated Gandhi.

“My first task is to spread ideology of Congress across the country and for this each Congress worker is very important. I am a Congress worker and my responsibility is to protest you and ensure justice. Similarly, every party worker have the responsibility of spreading the ideology of Congress,” said Gandhi.

“Congress worker struggle hard and wins, the party comes to power and form government but the workers were overlooked. Tickets were finalized without consulting party worker. I assured you that people with Congress ideology will only be getting tickets in coming election and tickets in Chhattisgarh will be finalized after having discussion with the workers,” said Gandhi, elaborating that the workers have to protect the party ideology at booth level.

The BJP government is working for 15-20 richest people in the country, he said.

“Farmers are depressed. Be it dalit, tribal, people belonging to weaker section or small shopkeeper, the government has made false promises like Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in bank account. The government has made several false promises like Make in India, Swatcha Bharat and Start-up India, one after another,” said Gandhi, adding that it is workers’ responsibility to tell people that Prime Minister is liar and Chief Minister is corrupted.

Referring party workers, Gandhi said “this is our family and in last few years I have noticed a shortcoming that the way party workers need to be treated, they were not. I will change this trend in coming years. I assured of taking action if misbehavious with any party workers by anyone would be reported. Workers are the backbone of the party.”
