Raipur, June 14
In another jolt to red-movement, two Maoists clad in uniform, carrying cash rewards, were eliminated by police team in an encounter took place in insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.
Police personnel were recovered three firearms including a Self Loaded Rifle (SLR) after the gunfight, which took place in forest between village Malepara and Murnar villages under Tadoki police station.
“Based on precise tip-off about presence of ultras in forest, Kanker police launched an anti-naxal exercise. While undertaking search operation, police personnel entered into an encounter after ultras opened indiscriminate firing on them with an intention to loot firearms and ammunition. In a wake of fire from naxal’s side, police launched a retaliatory action. Unable to withstand, police firing, rebels escaped taking benefit of night,” said a senior police officer.
The officer further informed that while undertaking search at the spot of encounter, police recovered bodies of two slain naxals from who were identified as commander of Local Guerilla Squad (Kiskodo Area Committee) Deepak alias Pilaram and LGS member Riti. Deepak was carrying cash reward of Rs 5 lakh while government has announced Rs 1 lakh on Riti. During search at the spot of encounter, police personnel have recovered one SLR, one G-03 rifle, one 303 rifle, one 12 bore rifle, two magazine of SLR, 21 live rounds of SLR, radio and other stuffs.
