UPA-led Congress government had prepared a contract for purchase of 126 Rafael fighter aircraft but Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the contracted without informing defence minister and his cabinet to benefit his friends, alleged Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi, who was arrived here in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur to inaugurate newly constructed Congress bhawan ‘Rajiv bhawan’ today, was addressing a public gathering.
“UPA government has prepared a contract for purchase of 126 Rafael aircraft from France at the cost of around Rs 540 crore per aircraft but after coming to power Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited France and terminated the contract without informing Defence Minister and cabinet. Suddenly, the price of an aircraft surprisingly increase to Rs 1600 crore from Rs 540 cr,” charged the Congress President.
Rahul Gandhi further added that as per the contract prepared by UPA government Bangalore-based public sector company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was to manufacture the aircraft here which in turn generate massive employment opportunities and also led to technology transfer but PM Modi has awarded the contract to his friend (without naming Ambani).
In his entire life Ambani has neither made aircraft nor worked in contract of defence and air force, added Gandhi.
The company which has been awarded contract of Rafael has been floated few weeks back, alleged Congress President, elaborating “I have pointed all this facts in parliament even in front of PM Modi. I have told PM Modi that Defence Minister of India mentioned that price of Rafael aircraft cannot be made public according to the secret pact with France but when French President visited India I met him and he personally cleared that Indian government can public the price of aircraft in which Government of France don’t have any objection. When I shared this fact in parliament, PM couldn’t look me in the eye in parliament even public might have noticed this in television because the watchman turned into a shareholder.”

“If a Chief Minister does not work for the youth, women, aadivasis of Chhattisgarh, then that CM does not deserve to survive a single day. Congress party, unlike BJP, does not belong to capitalists, it belongs to everyone,” stated Gandhi.
In BJP-ruled states, women are not safe. Atrocities against women have raised alarmingly, targeted Congress President.
