Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel reviewed the current status of COVID infection and the preventive measures being taken in 25 municipalities of Bilaspur, Sarguja and Bastar Division, in the video conference held on April 26.

Chairmen and Chief Municipal Officers of all these 25 municipalities joined in the video conference. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Baghel has been continuously reviewing the COVID prevention and control measures being taken in the state.

In the same sequence, Chief Minister had reviewed the COVID situation in Raipur and Durg Division on April 25. In the video conference organized from Chief Minister’s residence office, Urban Administration Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Daharia, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Secretary to Chief Minister  Siddhartha Komal Singh Pardeshi and Secretary Urban Administration Department Alarmelmangai D were present.

Reviewing the condition of corona infection, Chief Minister Baghel directed the officials to pay special attention towards cleanliness, availability of pure drinking water and prompt treatment of patients in all municipal councils. He emphasized on ensuring regular cleanling of every street and neighborhood of urban bodies.

He also directed to ensure sustainable supply of pure drinking water in urban areas during the ongoing summer season. He also instructed the officials to take necessary measures for prevention of the diseases such as jaundice.

Chief Minister also inquired about the distribution of ration to the beneficiaries in the municipalities in the current month of April and the storage arrangements for the ration of May and June months which is to be given simultaneously next month.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Baghel had one-on-one interaction with the chairmen and chief municipal officers of all the municipal councils and asked them to ensure prompt treatment of patients and adequate arrangements in hospitals in their respective areas. He added that in view of the rising number of COVID cases, medicine kits should be made available to people immediately based on the appearance of symptoms. This would help in containing the infection, preventing any serious condition.

In response to the request of chairpersons of Municipal Councils and to ensure proper treatment of patients and better management in hospitals, Chief Minister Baghel has given permission for the recruitment of doctors in Sakti and Kharsia as per the requirement.

He said that the concerned district collector will make the aforementioned arrangement under DMF item.

Baghel has also directed to ensure immediate availability of oxygen-equipped beds in municipal councils Ratanpur and Takhatpur. He has given instructions to create public awareness about COVID infection and to ensure strict adherence to the lockdown rules. Meanwhile, he gave necessary instructions to conduct COVID tests of people arriving at railway stations and bus stands from outside and migrant workers in check posts.

In his address to the video conference, Urban Administration and Development Minister, Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahria said that all the urban bodies have been doing great work towards COVID prevention and control. According to Government guidelines, arrangements for essential services such as ration, vegetables and fruits delivery during lockdown should also be made. People should be encouraged to adopt COVID-appropriate such as wearing masks, maintaining physical distance and hand hygiene to prevent corona infection. He directed the officials to conduct COVID test of the people coming from outside and to ensure their quarantine as per SOP.

He called for 100 per cent vaccination of all frontline workers in all the urban bodies as soon as possible. He directed to ensure implementation of the announcements made by Chief Minister within one month.
