Aiming to regain lost ground by creating terror among mass, armed naxals killed a villager by holding ‘Jan Adalat’ (people’s court) in insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
The incident took place at village Etagaon falling in limits of Amabeda police station, added police.
According to a senior police officer, the deceased has been identified as Motilal Vaidya (43). A group of armed naxals-led by secretary of Korar area committee Raje stormed into the house of 43-year-old villager and dragged him to forest by branding him as police informer. The armed naxal shot him down by holding Jan Adalat.
After being informed about the incident, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Motilal and launched a hunt for assilants, added the officer.
