RAIPUR, Apr 28
As many as two troopers of District Reserve Guard (DRG) were killed by naxals in Maoists-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday evening. A civilian has also suffered bullet wound in the firing, police said.
The incident took place near Tongguda camp falling in limits of Pamed police station, informed police sources.
According to the sources, the martyred DRG troopers were identified as Constable Arvind Minj and Assistant Constable Sukhu Hapka. The troopers along with a villager heading towards Tippapuram on motorcycle were attacked by armed ultras. The firing opened by Maoists killing the security personnel on the spot while the villager traveling with them suffered bullet wound on upper body part. The injured villager was rushed to a private hospital in bordering Telangana’s Cherla where his condition is reported to be critical.
In a wake of the incident, an extensive search operation has been launched in the area to nab assailants, added police sources.
