Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that MISA detenues played a very crucial role in the restoration of democracy across the country after Emergency. These activists of democracy suffered a lot during Emergency and sacrificed a lot for it. ‘Sankalp Diwas’ is being observed all over the country as a day of remembrance of atrocities. Dr. Raman Singh was addressing Regional Family Conference and Felicitation ceremony of ‘Loktantra Senani Sangh’ in the capital.
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said that the demands of ‘Fighters of democracy’ will be considered sympathetically and commendation certificates will be presented to them soon. The family members of jawans who became victims of Left-Wing Extremists (LWE) and victims of Emergence excesses were felicitated with coconut, shawl and memento.
Dr. Raman Singh said that MISA detenues had suffered a lot-mentally and physically-during the dark days of Emergency. He appreciated the sacrifices of the jailed and family members. Former Assembly Speaker Mr. Dharamlal Kaushik threw light on the dark days of much dreaded Emergency. One war has been fought for the liberation of Motherland and the other struggle was for ‘Restoration of Democracy’.
Former Union Minister Mr. Satynarayan Jatia said that entire nation had been converted into ‘Open Jail’ and efforts made to ‘Kill Democracy’. Citizens rights had been abrogated. Press Censorship had been promulgated. The programme had been organized to create awareness regarding Emergency among the masses. ‘Loktantra Senani Sangh’ National Vice-President Mr. Sachidanad Upasne welcomed the gathering.
