Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today greeted the citizens of the State on the auspicious occasion of Mahaveer Jayanti on 29th March. In a message on the eve of Mahaveer Jayanti, Dr. Raman Singh mentioned that 24th Theerthkar Bhagwan Mahaveer inspired the entire world with messages of love, truth, non-violence, mercy and providing succour to others. Even after several centuries the message is relevant in today’s world. Chief Minister added his preaching are more relevant in today’s violence-ridden stressful world and it will be a better and peaceful place if the human beings follow in the footsteps of great saint philosopher. Chhattisgarh State is blessed with Jain saints for the past thousands of years. According to historians, traces of Jain theology- history can be detected at Sirpur, Malhar, Maheshpur, Silipcharai and several other places. A bronze idol of First Theerthkar Prabhu Rishab Dev can be found at Sirpur. 11th Century idol of Jain Theerthkar can be found at Arang’s Bandedawal temple. Dr. Raman Singh prayed for peace and prosperity for the citizens of the State.
