Raipur, May 24
The sleuths of Income Tax Department on Wednesday carried out search at different address of liquor businessman and president of Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association Baldev Singh Bhatia across Chhattisgarh.
As per information received, different teams of IT Department simultaneously carried out searches at different locations of Bhatia in Raipur, Rajnandgaon, Durg and Bilaspur. Besides, sleuths have also carried out search at the office of Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association and also at DPS School, Raipur.
The department has carried out search on the suspicion of tax evasion to the tune of around several crores, averred sources, adding that further investigation in the case is underway.
Bhatia is reported to be very close to several ministers and BJP leaders in Chhattisgarh. The department was reportedly keeping close watch on transactions of Bhatia’s business from long time.
