
Raipur’s largest marathon is back and the preparations are on in full swing. The event was officially flagged off recently by Prof. Dhananjay Bapat, Chairman Students Affair Committee with a video launch depicting the
theme: “Samman ka deep jalao: Beti Bachao, Beti Padho”.
The theme launch was unveiled at Marine Drive, Telibandha. The evening saw people turned up in large numbers to watch students from IIM Raipur, NIT Raipur and MATS Raipur perform Nukkad Naatak, Flash Mob and singing.
The crowd interacted with the students of IIM Raipur to learn more about the marathon as well as the theme. There was also a selfie booth based on the theme where people took their photos, uploaded on social media and competed among each other for the maximum number of likes.
Prayaas is a marathon of national significance which will be conducted in the heart of Raipur, with the intent of running for a cause. This year the marathon will be conducted on Sunday, 19th November. “Our prime motive is to make people look up, take notice and think about the cause. Besides this, we aim to develop a sustainable model for supporting girls’ schools which caters to the underprivileged sections of society. After the marathon, we will design and perfect a program run by college students who will provide educational and career mentoring to the girls of a
few public Girls’ School in Raipur over the period of one year” said Kshitij Chandrakar, student at IIM Raipur and co-ordinator of Prayaas 2.0.
The “Prayaas” team has been working for the resource deprived people specially girls and women. Various events such as Nukkad Natak, flash mobs, quizzes and competitions had been conducted to create awareness about different issues pertaining in the society. The launch event concluded by successfully propagating the vision of a society where women are given equal rights and opportunities.
