Fifth International Yoga Day: World Record of Yoga Demo made in Chhattisgarh

Nearly 60 lakh people practiced yoga in multiple locations of the state

Raipur, June 22

On the occasion of fifth International Yoga Day, participation of maximum number of people in yoga demonstration held at multiple locations of Chhattisgarh has been included as world record in the Golden Book of World Records.

On instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, group yoga demonstration programmes were held in all the district headquarters, schools, colleges, urban bodies and gram panchayats of the state, wherein nearly 60 lakh people practiced yoga under the leadership of expert yoga instructors.

In the main event held at Sardar Balbeer Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium of capital city Raipur, nearly 600 people including school students, public representatives and senior officials participated in the group yoga demonstration session. Mayor Raipur Municipal Corporation Mr. Pramod Dubey was Chief Guest of the programme. Today, yoga demonstration programmes were organized in all the schools and colleges, and also in various organizations. Representative of Golden Book of World Record Mr. Alok Kumar handed over the provisional certificate of the new world record of Chhattisgarh to Mayor Mr. Pramod Dubey.

On this day, yoga camps were organized in all the district headquarters of the state. In the programme held at Durg district, Minister Mr. Tamradhwaj Sahu participated as Chief Guest. In Kawardha district, Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar attended the yoga programme as Chief Guest, Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma in Sukma, Minister Mr. Umesh Patel in Raigarh, MLA Mr. Shailesh Pandey in Bilaspur, MLA Mr. Vinod Chandrakar in Mahasamund, MLA Mr. Gulab Kamro in Gariaband, MLA Mr. Shishupal Sori in Kanker, MLA Mr. Mohan Markam in Jagdalpur, MLA Mr. Chandan Kashyap in Narayanpur, MLA Mr. Brahaspati Singh in Balrampur, MLA Dr Lakshmi Dhruv in Dhamtari, MLA Mr. Ashish Kumar Chhabra in Bemetara, MLA Mrs. Ambika Singhdeo in Koriya, MLA Mr. Narayan Prasad Chandel in Janjgir, and President Jila Panchayat Mr. Devchand Matlam attended the event held in Kondagaon as Chief Guest.

On the occasion, ‘Yog Ek Vigyan’ booklets were distributed to the participants. Yoga instructors, who led the respective programmes, were felicitated at the hands of Chief Guests. Large number of people, including children, youth and senior citizens, from accross the enthusiastically participated in the yoga camps.
