Like South Chhattisgarh, farmers of North Chhattisgarh have also begun to take more interest in organic farming. Praising the initiative of organic farming in hilly areas of Jashpur district of state, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh congratulated the farmers. Today, when Dr Singh paid surprise visit to the village Sahidand (Bagicha block) of this district, farmers of the area informed him about the rice production from organic farming and gifted him the organic paddy produced by them in ‘dona’ and ‘kanwar’. Farmers expressed satisfaction towards the support and guidance provided by state government’s Agriculture Department for organic farming. Chief Minister said- Towards the goal set by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, organic farming will play an important role in doubling the incomes of farmers by farmer 2022. Dr Singh said- like the farmers of Dantewada district in South Chhattisgarh, farmers of Jashpur district in northern area of Chhattisgarh are also taking interest in Jashpur district. Food grains produced from organic farming are more nutritious. Dr Singh assured the farmers of extending complete support in future as well. MLA Mr. Rajsharam Bhagat was also present on the occasion. It is noteworthy that last year, during Lok Suraaj Abhiyan, farmers of village Karli of Dantewada district had also gifted organic rice to Chief Minister.
