The ongoing exhibition-cum-sale of Chhattisgarh’s handloom and handicrafts at Chhattisgarh Bhawan has now been extended for another 10 days and shifted to Chhattisgarh Sadan at Safdarjung road due to popular demand.
The weavers had done a business of over 12 lakh in last 15 days after which the state government decided to continue with the exhibition at a new venue to attract more visitors. Member of Parliament from Rajya Sabha Rajmani Patel visited the exhibition and lauded the state government’s efforts in providing opportunity to local weavers and artisans to sell their products directly to customers.
Weavers and craftsmen from Bilaspur, Raigarh, Janjhgir and Champa districts of Chhattisgarh have put of their stalls at the exhibition-cum-sale. Apart from handlooms and handicrafts of Chhattisgarh, visitors will also be able to purchase aromatic organic rice, pulses, millet and local snacks from Chhattisgarh at the exhibition.
Dr Shivali Ahlawat, a visitor from Vasundhara Ghaziabad, was overwhelmed to see the collection of sarees and dress materials available at the exhibition. “They have got beautiful collection of sarees and dress materials in tussar, linen and cotton. The best thing is that I can buy directly from weavers and that too at amazing price,” she said adding that Tussar sarees give a very rich and royal look and have long shelf life.
