Vaccination is important for prevention of COVID-19 infection – Chief Minister
Free COVID-19 vaccination for people of age group 18-44 years in Chhattisgarh

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on May 1 launched the mega-campaign of free COVID-19 vaccination for people aged 18 to 44 in Chhattisgarh, through video conferencing at his residence office in the capital city.
In this online inaugural programme, Chief Minister interacted with the people of Bhilai-Durg, Raipur and Bilaspur, who have been vaccinated, and advised them to take proper precautions for prevention of corona infection.
On this occasion, Baghel congratulated the vaccination team conducting the campaign and also the people who have been vaccinated.
It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh is the first state in the country to provide free COVID-19 vaccination to all the people of age above 18 years. On this occasion, Health Minister T.S. Singhdeo, Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, Forest Minister Mohammad Akbar, Revenue Minister Jaisingh Agarwal, Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhendia, Industry Minister Kavasi Lakhma, Food Minister Amarjeet Bhagat, Public Health Engineering Minister Gururudra Kumar, Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel and MLA Rashmi Singh and MLA Devendra Yadav joined through video conferencing. Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Subrata Sahoo, Secretary to the Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi were also present.
While inaugurating the campaign, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that vaccination is an important weapon against the COVID-19 infection. This would help us in defeating the COVID-crisis in the state. He informed that with their consolidated efforts, the government and the administration have made all the necessary arrangements for successfully conducting this vaccination drive in the state. Presently, ‘antyoday’ ration card beneficiaries of age above 18 years are being given preference for vaccination.
In the same sequnce, Antyodaya ration card beneficiaries of age of above 18 years have been given the priority for vaccination. People of all the sections of the society will be provided free of cost COVID-19 vaccination, in line with the availability of vaccines in the state in near future.
He said that in the first batch, nearly 1.5 lakh doses have been made available in the state, which have been allocated to all the districts immediately. The campaign has already been commenced in Durg and Bilaspur districts along with the capital city Raipur.
Chief Minister Baghel said that it is important to adopt COVID-appropriate behavior to prevent the spread of this infection. By taking the necessary precautions and following the COVID-appropriate behavior collectively we can overcome this crisis.
He added that people of all the sections of the society have been extending full support and cooperation in prevention and control of COVID-19 infection. This united front against this pandemic will make us victorious. The programme was addressed by all the ministers. They extended their best wishes for the success of the vaccination drive.
