In Chhattisgarh, in the first tender of the Tendu Leaf Collection year 2022, 68 per cent quantity of notified quantity was sold for Rs 914 crore at an average rate of Rs 8, 067 per standard bag, which is highest sale of first tender in the last four years.

As per the intention of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading & Development) Co-operative Federation Limited will give special attention towards the quality of tendu leaves prior its collection so that the tendu leaves collectors can collect high quality tendu leaves. This will in turn increase the remuneration of tendu leaves collectors. This year the selling rate has increased due to huge demand for Tendu leaves. As many as 174 bidders from all over the country participated in the first tender for Tendu Leaf Collection year 2022, due to high quality of the Tendu leaves collected in Chhattisgarh state.

A meeting of Forest Produce State Trade Inter-departmental Committee was held in this regard yesterday under the chairmanship of Forest Minister Mr. Mohammad Akbar. The meeting was informed that 68 per cent of the notified quantity was sold for Rs 914 crore in the first tender of the year 2022 for tendupatta collection. On this occasion, Principal Secretary (Forest and Climate Change) Mr. Manoj Pingua, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Chief of Forest Force Mr. Rakesh Chaturvedi, Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Association Managing Director Mr. Sanjay Shukla, Secretary (Forest) Mr. Prem Kumar along with departmental officials concerned were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh government has hiked the collection rate of tendu leaves from Rs 2500 per standard bag to Rs 4000 per standard bag from the year 2019. Online tenders of the first round were invited from December 07, 2021 to December 14, 2021 for the advance sale of 16.72 lakh standard bags of 954 lots of 902 primary forest produce cooperative societies to be collected in the state in the year 2022. Online tenders of second round have been invited from January 04, 2022 to January 06, 2022 for advance sale of the notified quantity tendu leaves of the remaining lots.

In the first tender of Tendu Leaf Collection year 2019, 25 per cent of the notified quantity was sold for Rs 240 crore in the first tender. Besides, in the first tender of Tendu Leaf Collection year 2020, 18 per cent quantity of notified quantity was sold for Rs 172 crore. Likewise, in the year 2021, in the first tender, 62 per cent quantity of the notified quantity was sold for Rs 704 crore.
