Financial aid of Rs 1804.50 crore will be disbursed to farmers, agricultural laborers, cattle ranchers, and women’s self-help groups on this occasion

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has paid tribute to Late Mr. Rajiv Gandhi , the former Prime Minister of India , on his death anniversary on May 21. In his message released on Friday, Mr. Baghel has said that the late Mr.Gandhi has made a significant contribution to the development and reestablishment of  India. Mr. Rajiv took over the reins of the country as a young Prime Minister and it was because of his visionary and innovative thinking that India witnessed an Information revolution that lead India to emerge as a rapidly developing country.

Today, we are able to see the present form of e-governance and transparency in government functioning as an effect of his initiative. The foundation of Digital India was laid during the tenure of Mr. Rajiv Gandhi. He played a crucial role in strengthening the foundation of the country by empowering Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies. He was the one who brought down the voting age from 21 to 18 and gave youth the right to vote. By promoting science and technology, he opened several new avenues for industries in the country. In fact, Rajiv ji was a modern dreamer of a modern India.

Mr. Baghel said that Mr. Rajiv had a deep attachment to Chhattisgarh. He closely observed the tribal culture and inhabitants here and worked towards their development. His brief stay in 1985 in the tribal area of ​​Kulhadighat in the Gariaband district is still etched in the memories of the people. Around the same time, he traveled to Dugli in the Dhamtari district, which is now also known as Rajiv Gram.   Mr. Rajiv Gandhi had dreamt of an inclusive India that strives towards holistic development of the country in various avenues and made policies keeping development at the forefront priority. The ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ was launched by the state government in the year 2020 on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. Under which financial aid is being transferred directly to the accounts of more than 22 lakh farmers in the form of input subsidy. Under this scheme, 11 thousand 302 crore rupees have been paid in the accounts of farmers in the last two years. The Chief Minister said that the state government has started Rajiv Gandhi Grameen bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana with the objective of providing financial support and justice to the landless families of villages besides farmers. About 3 lakh 55 thousand landless families are getting benefited from this scheme. On May 21, the first installment of Rs 71 crore 8 lakh will be released in the bank accounts of 3 lakh 55 thousand landless families of the state. Under this, the annual assistance has been increased from Rs.6 thousand to Rs.7 thousand.

The Chief Minister said that Suraji Gaon Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana and Godhan Nyay Yojana are proving to be helpful in strengthening the rural economy and a large section of the society financially. The Chief Minister said that Mr. Rajiv did not bow down to terrorism and did not even care for his life for the love of the country. In his honor and to pay tribute to him, his death anniversary on 21st May is celebrated by the whole country as Anti-Terrorism Day. Everyone’s determination and work towards development in the country and the state by ending the roots of terrorism, Naxalism, and corruption will be a true tribute to Mr. Rajiv Gandhi.
