Cannabis of around Rs 10 crore seized in Raipur

A joint team of Central Excise Department and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today seized a major haul of Cannabis to the tune of around Rs 10 crore in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur.
As per information received, based on precise tip-off, the officials of Central Excise Department and DRI seized a truck (bearing registration number CG 07 CA 5727) carrying cannabis weighing around 6545 kg in Raipur. The estimated market value of the seized cannabis would be around Rs 10 crore.
Initial investigation revealed that the truck carrying cannabis was heading towards Punjab from Malkangiri, Odisha, informed official sources, elaborating that this is one of the biggest seizure in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
In connection with the case, officials have arrested driver and conductor of the truck and investigating the matter further, added officials.
