
Congress’ Bhupesh Baghel will be sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh today, while party Kamal Nath will take oath as Madhya Pradesh’s CM and Ashok Gehlot will take oath of office and secrecy. Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson would be among those who will attend the swearing-in ceremony in all the three states.
In Chhattisgarh, Governor Anandiben Patel will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Baghel, the State Congress President, in Raipur this evening. After four days of discussions with legislators and Mr Gandhi, party observer Mallikarjun Kharge announced the name of Mr Baghel as the Chief Minister at the Congress legislature party meeting in Raipur yesterday.
“The swearing-in ceremony of Chhattisgarh’s new chief minister to be held at the science college grounds of state capital Raipur this evening will mark the presence of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi,” said Congress sources.
Bhupesh Baghel will be the third chief minister of the state.
In Rajasthan, Governor Kalyan Singh will administer the oath of the office and secrecy to Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot at the Albert Memorial Museum Hall in Jaipur around 10 this morning. This will be Mr Gehlot’s third term as the Chief Minister, while Mr Pilot, a first time MLA, will become the Deputy CM for the first time.
In Madhya Pradesh, Governor Anandiben Patel will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Kamal Nath around 1:30 in the afternoon at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal. our correspondent reports that nine-time Lok Sabha member from Chhindwara, Mr Kamal Nath was elected as the leader of Congress Legislature Party after days of deliberations.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi and many senior leaders of different political parties will be present at the swearing-in ceremony. The 72-year-old Kamal Nath will be sworn in as the 18th chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Jamboori Maidan in Bhopal.
Among those who will be present in the oath-taking ceremony include Chief Ministers of some states, national office -bearers of Indian National Congress, office-bearers of other political parties and newly-elected MLAs. Kamal Nath is currently Lok Sabha member from Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. Kamal Nath was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is an alumnus of The Doon School, and earned a Bachelor degree from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
