Baghel removes CIMS dean: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has removed the dean of Bilaspur-based Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) and civil surgeon of the district hospital for laxity in duty during corona crisis.
The step was taken after dereliction and mismanagement was surfaced in CIMS Bilaspur during the corona crisis.

Baghel removes CIMS dean: Acting swiftly, the Chief Minister has ordered Bilaspur Commissioner to take immediate action on reports received regarding the mismanagement in CIMS and also directed the officer to eliminate the shortfall within a period of 15 days.
Notably, based on the complaints received regarding mismanagement in CIMS Bilaspur, the state government had recently carried out a probe by constituting a five-member committee of senior officials. The probe committee in its report has mentioned series of shortcomings prevailed in the CIMS.
The probe committee has proposed series of recommendation including formation of a control team in the leadership of one competent officer for management of CIMS Bilaspur and entrusting the responsibility to a senior officer as incharge-officer for establishing smooth coordination between CIMS, dedicated COVID hospital in the district and Health Department.
Apathy mentioned by the committee in its report includes improper review of management of COVID-19 related arrangements by senior officials, compliance of OPD management and infection control protocols.
