Chief Minister launches ‘Mukhyamantri MGNREGA Mazdoor Tiffin Vitaran Yojana’

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that the main aim of State Government is to usher in prosperity in the lives of poor and downtrodden. The authorities had been making efforts to transform the lives of villagers. He was speaking after launching the  ‘Mukhyamantri MGNREGA Mazdoor Tiffin Vitaran Yojana’ in the capital today. He distributed tiffin boxes to some workers and gave them sweets.. The scheme is very dear to my heart.

Dr. Raman Singh revealed that around ten lakh 83 thousand workers will be given three-box tiffin carriers in the next 45 days across the State. Chief Minister said that small schemes will help in usher in change in the lives of poor workers. Smart phones, footwear, concrete houses, electricity in all houses will enhance the self-respect of the toiling masses. The Smart Phones akin to the ones in the hands of Ministers will belong to poor, women and youth in the near future. The villages had been inter-linked with concrete roads, schools and colleges.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. Ajay Chandrakar, Water Resources Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal, Food Minister Mr. Punnulal Mohale, Public Works Minister Mr. Rajesh Munat, Chief Secretary Mr Ajay Singh and several senior officials were also present.

Dr. Raman Singh said that he saw workers in Bilaspur rural areas were taking lunch under the shade of trees during his Gram Suraaj Mission last year. They brought lunch in ‘potli’ and plastic boxes. A woman worker shared her lunch with me. ‘Then I decided to distribute tiffin boxes to the poor classes’. They will be eating safe food which will help them in avoiding diseases. The workers are being provided employment of 150 days under the MNREGA. They are allocated subsidized rice, free Iodized salt and grams also. Medical treatment up to a ceiling of Rs Fifty Thousand is being provided under the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme. Forty lakh poor will be provided with free medical facilities under the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Former Prime Minister Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee had carved out separate Chhattisgarh in the year 2000 and now the State is on a take-off stage to become a developed one soon.

Mr. Ajay Chandrakar said that Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country which provides wages to women workers even during the absence from work due to pregnancies under the MNREGA. The wages are paid to 70 per cent of the labour within 15 days. He gave a detailed description of the various programmes for the welfare of masses. Additional Chief Secretary of Panchayat Raj Department Mr. R. P. Mandal said that the project worth Rs 20 crore is to honour the MNREGA workers. Several people’s representatives, senior officers and large number of workers participated in the meeting.
