Taking a serious note of the fact that roads remained a weak link in Maoist affected areas, especially in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar, the NDA Government has focused on beefing up infrastructure in this region, even since it came to power.

The long wait for brighter future by Bastar youth is now almost getting over, thanks to the high pace of roads & bridges construction there. CEO of CGRRDA, the nodal agency for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Rakesh Chaturvedi told us that over 1200 kilometers of roads have been built in Bastar in last 3 years.

In fact, Bijapur has already been connected by all-weather road to Jagdalpur, catalyzing development in this remote district. Despite severe security threats, the works of Injaram-Bhejji and Dornapal-Jagargunda roads penetrating into the final remaining bastions of naxals are speedily progressing.

In fact, Sukma has now been connected to Hyderabad and Bijapur will also connect soon to Maharashtra once the work on Timed bridge gets completed. All this interstate connectivity is expected to flood in economic activity in Bastar.
