Security personnel eliminate three ultras, recovered weapons

Three ultras were eliminated by security personnel in an encounter took place in insurgency-hit Rajnandgaon district of Chhattisgarh, police said today, adding that the naxals killed in the encounter were carrying cash reward.

The encounter took place in the forest close to village Kopenkadka falling in limits ofKhadgaon police station late on last night, police added.

According to police, a joint team of Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and District Force undertaking operations were targeted by naxala when they reach Kopenkadka forest following which troopers retaliated.

While undertaking search at the spot of encounter, security personnel recovered bodies of three ultras along with one AK 47 rifle, one Insas rifle and one SLR rifle.

The slain naxals were identified as Mahesh- an area committee member (ACM), Rakesh-ACM and Pallemadi LOS (local organisation squad) commander and Ranjit -Pallemadi LOS deputy commander, said police said, adding that they were carrying rewards of Rs 5 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh on their heads respectively.
