Raipur, July 19
The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday caught a District Ayurvedic Officer red-handed while he was accepting Rs 7000 bribe in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district, said ACB.
According to information received, the accused District Ayurvedic Officer identified as Dr Prakash Singh has demanded Rs 5000 and Rs 2000 respectively from Dr Rangdas Shukla (retired) and pharmacist Devlal Rawat for releasing arrears and also instructed the duo to meet assistant (grade-2) Solanki. Following the bribe demand of Dr Prakash Singh, Dr Shukla and Rawat lodged a complaint with ACB.
Acting on the complaint, ACB sleuths started verification and found the complaint as genuine, added officials.
After undertaking extensive verification of the entire matter, ACB laid a trap and in the meantime, the accused expressed his consent for accepting the bribe and called them at his office. Finally, the accused officer Dr Prakash Singh was caught red-handed along with bribe amount he accepted from the complainants.
In this connection, ACB has arrested the accused officer and registered a case under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 and started investigation, ACB officials said, adding that ACB is also investigating the involvement of Solanki in the matter.
