Chhattisgarh to Become a Vegetable and Fruit Basket Along with Rice: Union Agriculture Minister

Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has stated that Chhattisgarh will become a basket of vegetables and fruits along with rice in the coming times.
He said that the central government is promoting horticultural and horticultural crops along with agriculture.
The Union Minister was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day farmers’ conference held at Gram Khapri in Durg district. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai presided over the program on this occasion.
On this occasion, the Union Minister inaugurated a building constructed by the Progressive Farmers’ Association and laid the foundation stone for the training center. Along with this, a truck loaded with 200 quintals of vegetables was flagged off for the Maha Kumbh to be held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from January 13.
On this occasion, the farmers honored the Union Agriculture Minister Shri Chouhan by garlanding him and presenting a memento. Union Minister Shri Chouhan said that Rs. 203 crore has been released to encourage and provide subsidies to farmers to enrich them and promote horticultural crops in Chhattisgarh.
He appealed to the farmers to produce arhar, moong, and urad crops and set up processing units.
Addressing the farmers’ conference, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the central government are providing full cooperation for the development of Chhattisgarh.
He said that as soon as our government was formed, 18 lakh houses were approved in the first cabinet meeting, fulfilling the guarantee of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Fulfilling the promise of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is procuring paddy from the farmers of the state at the rate of Rs. 3100 per quintal. Our government is committed to empowering and enriching the farmers. Last year, 145 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured, and this year, 160 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procurement is estimated.
Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam also addressed the farmers’ conference. He said that the farmers of Chhattisgarh are very hardworking and are becoming empowered and prosperous by adopting new agricultural techniques. The Chhattisgarh government is also making efforts to provide good prices to farmers for their crops and increase production. The farmers’ conference was organized by the Chhattisgarh Youth Progressive Farmers Association in collaboration with the Horticulture Department. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, MP Shri Vijay Baghel, MLA Shri Domnalal Korsevada, former MLA Shri Devji Bhai Patel, Shri Vimal Chopra, President of the Youth Progressive Farmers Association Shri Virendra Lohan, and other members of the association, along with a large number of farmers, were present.
