Chhattisgarh Honored by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India for Outstanding Work Related to DMF

The Government of India’s Ministry of Mines, New Delhi, has honored the state of Chhattisgarh at the national level for its exemplary work under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). During the one-day “National DMF Workshop” held today at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi, Union Minister of Coal and Mines Shri G. Kishan Reddy presented a certificate of appreciation to Shri P. Dayanand, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary of Mineral Resources, on behalf of the state.
The Ministry of Mines maintains a comprehensive database of all states’ DMF activities through the National DMF Portal under the Prime Minister’s Mineral Area Welfare Scheme. Chhattisgarh received this honor for uploading 90% of its DMF audit reports and data on both the state DMF portal and the National DMF portal. The state’s efforts were showcased as a model during the workshop, and other states were encouraged to emulate Chhattisgarh’s practices regarding data transparency and ground-level implementation.
It is noteworthy that the National DMF Workshop was organized with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of the Prime Minister’s Mineral Area Welfare Scheme and promoting sustainable and inclusive development in mining-affected regions. Secretaries, directors, and district collectors from various mining-affected regions across India attended the workshop.
The Chhattisgarh government, through DMF, is consistently working toward inclusive development in sectors such as education, healthcare, drinking water, infrastructure, and livelihood in mining-affected areas. So far, the state has approved 101,313 development projects with a total cost of ₹16,506 crore, out of which 70,318 projects have been successfully completed.
The state government follows a transparent and public-interest-oriented approach in the implementation of DMF, ensuring project planning and monitoring are aligned with local needs in every district. This policy aims not only at physical development but also at social empowerment.
Representing Chhattisgarh at the workshop were Shri P. Dayanand, Secretary of the Mineral Resources Department, and Director Shri Rajat Bansal, along with Collectors and DMF Nodal Officers from the districts of Balod, Balodabazar-Bhatapara,Korba, Raigarh and Dantewada.
