Center-in-charge Ramdas Banjare arrested for fraud in paddy procurement

Ramdas Banjare, the accused involved in fraudulent activities at the Guruvainadabri paddy procurement center in Loremi development block of Mungeli district, was arrested today after being surrounded by the police near Tifra Bilaspur. While serving as the center-in-charge of Guruvainadabri paddy procurement center, he had committed fraud causing a financial loss of over 91 lakh 68 thousand rupees to the government.
After the case of irregularities in paddy procurement came to light, an FIR was registered against the center-in-charge on the instructions of Collector Shri Rahul Dev. Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shri Bhojram Patel, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Pankaj Patel and Shri Vivek Shukla, and under the leadership of SDOP Loremi Smt. Madhuri Dheerhi, the Lalpur police station and cyber cell team conducted raids at all possible locations to arrest the accused Ramdas Banjare. The accused had been continuously changing his location since the FIR was registered. During this time, information was received that the accused was hiding near Tifra, Bilaspur, and was living by changing his name and address. On the information, a team of Lalpur police station and cyber cell was immediately sent to Bilaspur for arrest and the accused was surrounded and arrested near Tifra and produced before the court.
Assistant Commissioner of Cooperation Shri Hitesh Shrivas informed that during the paddy procurement in the Kharif marketing year 2023-24, Ramdas Banjare had fraudulently embezzled more than 2500 quintals of paddy. Along with this, 600 bags of paddy purchased from farmers were fraudulently loaded into a Shyam Rice Product Barela truck bearing registration number CG 12 S 2108 for sale. A case has been registered against him under sections 420, 409, and 511 of the IPC at Lalpur police station, Mungeli, and an investigation is underway. The investigation revealed that he had committed a fraud of approximately 91 lakh 68 thousand rupees. The accused Ramdas Banjare had been absconding since the crime was registered.
