
The government today said that the February GST collections till March end of this year stood at around 90,000 crore rupees. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia said that till March end of this year, 89 thousand and 264 crore rupees were collected as GST.
Mr Adhia also said, the government is confidant of meeting the fiscal deficit target of 3.5 percent this year. He also said, e-way bill system has been smoothly rolled out and no glitches were reported in its implementation. GST Network Chairman Ajay Bhusan Pandey said, on the first day of its implementation, a total of 2.89 lakh e-Way bills were generated and 2.89 lakh bills generated today on the second day till 4 PM.
Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT Chairman Sushil Chandra said, in 2017-18 direct tax collection stood at at 9.95 lakh crore rupees which 17.1 per cent higher than the collection in 2016-17.
