At the foreign exchange market, the rupee weakened by 41 paise to 63 rupees 98 paise against the dollar in afternoon trade today.
The domestic currency had opened lower at 63 rupees 60 paise from yesterday’s closing level of 63 rupees 49 paise.
At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange rose by 28 points, to 34,871, when reports last came in. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange was down 1 point at 10,740.
