PNG network expansion will lead LPG availability in remote areas: Petroleum Minister

Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday inaugurated the PNG supply to kitchens in BK Dutt Colony located in Lodhi Road Area of New Delhi. Addressing on the occasion, Mr Pradhan said that the expansion of PNG network in cities like Delhi will lead to additional LPG availability in remote areas of the country, which will help in taking LPG to the kitchens of the poor and marginalized through Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

He underlined the commitment of the government to make clean fuels available across the country.

Highlighting the advantages of PNG, he thanked New Delhi MP Meenakshi Lekhi for her efforts to get clearance for laying 3 kilometre pipeline in the colony. Mr Pradhan also complimented IGL for having started schemes like EMI scheme for making PNG within reach of common man and for starting Swasth Saarthi Abhiyaan which is an initiative to provide basic health check up to the drivers of CNG run public transport vehicles.

MP Meenakshi Lekhi, Member of Parliament, Managing Director, Indraprastha Gas Limited E.S. Ranganathan, officials of IGL, RWA and residents of the colony were present on the occasion.

Over 750 residents of the colony have already registered for PNG connections and network has already been laid to provide PNG connections to 450 kitchens in the colony very soon.
