
The domestic stock markets again climbed to record closing highs, amid a global market rally, today, while the rupee strengthened slightly against the dollar.
Snapping two days of small losses, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 136 points, or 0.4 percent, to a new record closing high of 31,273. The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange rose 37 points, to a new closing peak of 9,654.
Stock markets in Japan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea and Singapore gained between 0.1 percent and 1.6 percent. Major European bourses in the UK, Germany and France also climbed.
