“Buddhist Traditions Deep Roots in Chhattisgarh” – CM Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that Buddhist traditions have deep roots in Chhattisgarh, and the state government is moving forward on the path of development while embracing Lord Buddha’s message of love, peace, and compassion. Addressing the unveiling ceremony of a newly installed grand statue of Lord Buddha at the Hotel Ground premises in Mainpat, Surguja district, the Chief Minister offered floral tributes and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and peace of the people of the state.
Expressing his gratitude to the Tibetan community for the invitation on this auspicious occasion, the Chief Minister said that several places in Chhattisgarh are dedicated to the worship of Lord Buddha. He highlighted Sirpur as a unique example of inclusive culture, where Buddhist, Jain, and Sanatan traditions coexist harmoniously.
Recalling the 90th birth anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Chief Minister said that the Dalai Lama’s life is a living embodiment of Lord Buddha’s teachings of compassion, love, and peace. His message brings new hope and positivity to the world. He noted that leaders from across the globe, including Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, extended their greetings, reflecting the profound global impact of Lord Buddha’s philosophy.
The Chief Minister described Mainpat as a place blessed with natural beauty and cultural diversity that captivates tourists. He emphasized the vast tourism potential in the region and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to its holistic development. He added that tourism has been given special priority in the state’s new industrial policy, and those launching homestay services in areas like Mainpat will receive special incentives.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced ₹10 lakh for the construction of a CC (cement concrete) road from Saila Resort to the Buddhist temple in Mainpat and ₹20 lakh for constructing a shed at the ancient Buddhist temple, in response to a request from the Tibetan Cooperative Society.
The Chief Minister also participated in a tree plantation activity. Notably, he received a heartfelt traditional Tibetan welcome at the event. People warmly greeted him while holding the Indian national flag, creating an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and joy.
The event was attended by Surguja MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj, Sitapur MLA Shri Ramkumar Toppo, Collector Shri Vilas Bhoskar, Settlement Officer Ms. Swang Yangso, President of the Tibetan Cooperative Society Shri Tamding Sering, Monastery Heads Lama Dubje and Lama Jinpa, along with a large number of members from the Tibetan community.
