Bastar region witnessing wind of development: CM Sai

Raipur, December 11

Chhattisgarh government is working for the welfare and progress of all sections of society, said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai while addressing a programme at Pakhanjur in Kanker district.

He emphasized that every possible effort is being made for the development of the Bastar region. He mentioned that schemes like Niyad Nellanar have made basic facilities such as roads, schools, drinking water, housing, and electricity easily accessible to the people of Bastar.

“Development winds are now blowing in Bastar,” he remarked.

During the program, CM Sai announced ₹8.78 crore for the strengthening of the Pakhanjore-Mayapur road, ₹2 crore for the construction of a sports complex, ₹30 lakh for the repair of the civil hospital, and the establishment of the Nalanda Library Complex.

He also unveiled the statue of former Municipal Council President Asim Roy.

On this occasion, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 68 development projects worth a total of ₹254.15 crore. These included the foundation laying of 43 projects worth ₹215.41 crore and the inauguration of 25 projects worth ₹38.74 crore.

Addressing the gathering, the CM mentioned that the state government would complete its first year on December 13 and highlighted its efforts to fulfill promises made to the people. He noted that following the formation of the government, payment of differential amounts to farmers was made on Good Governance Day, December 25. Additionally, new housing projects were approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He shared that the remuneration for tendu leaf collectors had been increased from ₹4,000 to ₹5,500 per standard sack.

The CM reiterated that the government is making every possible effort for Bastar’s development. Under the Niyad Nellanar scheme, benefits of government initiatives are being extended to people in Maoist-affected areas, while the PM Janman Yojana is fostering the progress of particularly vulnerable tribal groups. A new industrial policy has been implemented to promote business and industry in the state. Furthermore, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is actively addressing irregularities in the State PSC examinations.

On the occasion, Deputy CM Shri Arun Sao acknowledged the numerous initiatives undertaken by the Sai government in the past year, including providing ₹1,000 monthly under the Mahatari Vandan Yojana to 70 lakh women in the state. Continuous housing development under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and welfare measures for farmers and other sections of society were also highlighted. The event was also addressed by Antagarh MLA Shri Vikram Dev Usendi.

The program witnessed the presence of Kanker MLA Shri Asharam Netam, Municipal Council Pakhanjore President Smt. Monika Saha, former MLAs Shri Dewlal Dugga and Manturam Pawar, former State Fisheries Development Board Chairman Shri Bharat Matiyara, along with many public representatives and a large gathering of people.
