Balanced diet, regular exercise, and timely check-ups are key to disease prevention: CM Sai

Raipur, June 14

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that good health is the greatest wealth in life. If we eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and undergo health check-ups from time to time, we can prevent many diseases. The Chief Minister was addressing a grand free health camp organized at Jhulelal Dham on Canal Road in the capital city, Raipur, today.

The health camp was organized to mark the 94th birth anniversary of Pujya Baba Gurudas Ram Saheb Ji, with support from the Health Department, and in collaboration with Pujya Shadani Sewa Mandal, Pujya Baba Garibdas Sewa Mandal, Pujya Chhattisgarh Sindhi Panchayat, Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha, and Pujya Kandhkot Panchayat. A large number of citizens underwent health check-ups and availed Ayushman Cards. Specialist doctors rendered their services at the camp.

Chief Minister Shri Sai said that due to today’s irregular lifestyle, adulterated food, and polluted environment, diseases like blood pressure and diabetes have become common. Even hardworking people in rural areas are no longer untouched by these illnesses. In such a context, organizing health camps like this is a highly commendable initiative.

The Chief Minister praised the Sindhi community’s spirit of service, stating that the community has always been at the forefront of social causes. He recalled his association with various programs of the Sindhi community since his tenure as a Member of Parliament from Raigarh.

He noted that Chhattisgarh has entered its silver jubilee year and has witnessed holistic development in all sectors, including healthcare. In terms of health infrastructure, Chhattisgarh is emerging as a medical hub. While there was only one medical college at the time of the state’s formation, today there are 15 medical colleges operating across the government and private sectors. Super-specialty hospitals have also been established in the private sector. The infrastructure of Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres, and District Hospitals has been strengthened. Health and Wellness Centres have also been initiated.

He said that both the Central and State Governments are running numerous welfare schemes to provide better healthcare to citizens. Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme, poor patients are receiving free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. Additionally, all citizens above 70 years of age are being provided with up to ₹5 lakh in treatment aid under the Vay Vandana Yojana. Similarly, under the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance Scheme, the state government offers financial assistance of ₹25–30 lakh for treatment of serious illnesses. Eligible patients are also given financial aid from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

At the end of the event, the Chief Minister honored Shri Amit Chimnani, the coordinator of the health camp, as well as the doctors who rendered their services during the camp.

Present on the occasion were MLA Shri Guru Khushwant Saheb, Dhamtari Mayor Shri Ramu Rohra, Chairperson of Chhattisgarh State Child Protection Commission Dr. Varnika Sharma, event coordinator Shri Amit Chimnani, President of Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha Shri Ladharam Ji, President of Chhattisgarh Sindhi Panchayat Shri Mahesh Daryani, along with dedicated members of the Sindhi community, specialist doctors, and a large number of citizens.
