Adequate Stock of Fertilizers and Seeds Available in the State for Kharif Season:Netam

Agriculture Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam today flagged off 28 new Bolero vehicles at a brief program held at the Chhattisgarh Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation premises in Telibandha, Raipur. These vehicles have been allocated to 28 districts of the state. The new vehicles will be used by departmental officers to ensure effective implementation of agricultural schemes in the field and to monitor farmer-centric programs.

On this occasion, Director of Agriculture Shri Rahul Dev and other departmental officials were present.

Minister Shri Netam stated that the Chhattisgarh government is running several schemes and programs for the welfare of farmers. To ensure that farmers benefit from these, special efforts will be made to raise awareness and provide them with information about these schemes. Expert teams will use these vehicles to reach villages through farmer awareness camps, educating them on advanced techniques and modern farming practices. The availability of vehicles at the district level will help accelerate departmental activities.

Speaking with media representatives, Minister Netam informed that extensive preparations are underway for the 2025 Kharif season. Along with sufficient storage of fertilizers and seeds, their distribution to farmers is being carried out rapidly. He shared that the target for chemical fertilizers for Kharif 2025 is 14.62 lakh metric tonnes, out of which 8.48 lakh metric tonnes have already been stored and 1.68 lakh metric tonnes have been distributed to farmers, which is approximately 20% of the stored quantity.

He added that the department is in continuous contact and coordination with fertilizer companies to ensure the availability of various fertilizers according to the state’s demand and delivery as per the scheduled rakes.

Minister Netam further informed that, currently, including stock held by Markfed’s double lock system, cooperative societies, and the private sector, the state has:

Urea: 3.90 lakh metric tonnes

DAP: 86,046 metric tonnes

NPK: 1,14,539 metric tonnes

Potash: 67,640 metric tonnes

Super Phosphate: 1,89,539 metric tonnes

Distribution to farmers through societies and private channels is ongoing. So far, the following quantities have been distributed:

Urea: 84,661 metric tonnes

DAP: 27,045 metric tonnes

NPK: 18,809 metric tonnes

Potash: 10,359 metric tonnes

Super Phosphate: 27,381 metric tonnes

Currently, 6.80 lakh metric tonnes of various chemical fertilizers are available in the state for farmer distribution.

Regarding seed availability, Minister Netam said that against the demand of 4.95 lakh quintals of seeds for various Kharif crops, 4.29 lakh quintals have been secured. Over 2.31 lakh quintals of seeds have been stored in cooperative societies, and 47,881 quintals have already been distributed to farmers. The government is continuously monitoring the stock and distribution status of fertilizers and seeds in the state.
