Passage of Freedom of Religion, Staff Selection Board, and Anti-Cheating Bills will prove to be a Boon for the State: CM Sai

Raipur, March 21

Under the leadership of MLA Shri Purandar Mishra, representatives from various sections of society met Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at his residence office in Raipur. They honored and thanked him for the passage of the Freedom of Religion Bill 2026, the Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board Bill 2026, and the Chhattisgarh (Prevention of Unfair Means in Public Recruitment and Professional Examinations) Bill 2026 during the budget session.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the passage of these three bills in the Legislative Assembly will prove to be a boon for all residents of the state. He emphasized that the Freedom of Religion Bill is a clear resolve to protect our great traditions and values, while the other two bills will be pivotal in ensuring transparency in recruitment.
Curbing Illegal Conversions
CM Shri Sai mentioned that followers of Sanatan Dharma in the state had long been demanding a strict law against conversions. “In line with this demand, we have passed the Freedom of Religion Bill 2026,” he said. He pointed out that while a law existed previously, it was not effective enough, allowing those involved in illegal conversions to escape. He noted that conversions were damaging the social fabric in some areas and tarnishing the state’s image; this bill aims to strictly curb such activities.
The Chief Minister added that by passing this bill, the government has paid tribute to the late Shri Dilip Singh Judeo (former Rajya Sabha MP and Union Minister), who spearheaded a fierce crusade against conversions through his “Ghar Wapsi” campaign.
Transparency in Recruitment and Exams
Addressing the concerns of lakhs of youth, the Chief Minister highlighted two other significant legislative achievements:
* Chhattisgarh Staff Selection Board Bill: Passed to ensure a simple and transparent selection process for recruitment.
* Chhattisgarh (Prevention of Unfair Means in Public Recruitment and Professional Examinations) Bill 2026: Passed unanimously to prevent irregularities and curb practices like cheating in examinations.
