Chief Minister Makes Surprise Visit to Mart, Interacts with Customers – Customers Call It a GST Reform-Led “Savings Revolution”

Raipur, 24 September

Shoppers buying daily essentials at Shubham “K-Mart” in Sarona, Raipur, were pleasantly surprised when they realized that the state’s Chief Minister himself had come to check whether the public was truly receiving the benefits of the GST savings.

As part of the GST Savings Festival, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai visited “Shubham K-Mart” to directly understand public sentiment. Becoming a shopper himself, the CM purchased household goods worth ₹1,645 and paid using UPI. During his visit, he interacted with customers to understand the real-world impact of the GST rate cuts on product prices.

Mr. Sai bought essential goods and experienced the benefit of lower GST rates first-hand. He warmly greeted shoppers, asked homemakers about how the changes had affected their household budgets, and chatted with youth and senior citizens about their daily lives. As he conversed with fellow shoppers while picking up his own groceries, people were visibly moved by the CM’s humility, saying, “Today, the head of our state is among us as one of us.” He listened to public feedback about the GST reforms, with many saying that falling prices of medicines and groceries had brought them major relief.

The Chief Minister smiled and said, “This is exactly the goal — for the impact of reforms to reach the common people.” Upon seeing the revised price tags himself, he remarked, “This reform is not just on paper — it’s a visible change in the lives of families.”

He also urged everyone to support the “Vocal for Local” movement, to which people responded, “You lead, we follow.”

“Not Just GST Reduction — This is a Savings Revolution”

During his conversation with the Chief Minister, retired Air Force officer Mr. T.P. Singh said, “In the future, when the history of this era is written, these GST reforms under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be remembered as a historic budgetary revolution.”
He added, “Earlier, the same amount of money bought us rations for 30 days. Now, we’re able to buy for over 40 days. Only our Prime Minister had the courage to make such a bold decision — no one else could have.”

This historic move has made notebooks and other essential stationery items more affordable.”

He added, “I used to spend about ₹2,000 annually on stationery for my children, and now we’re saving around ₹240.”

Came to Buy 4 Items, Bought 4 Times More

More Shopping Than Budgeted

Mrs. Savita Maurya and Mrs. Anita Sakar had come to buy beauty items for Kanya Bhoj (a traditional offering to girls during Navratri). They said, “Prices of cosmetic items have gone down.
