Beautiful Anganwadi Centers in Pahadi Korwa Settlements, Just Like Playschools in Metro Cities

Raipur, September 4
“Just like a firefly escaping from the palm, tears welled up on seeing it.”
The new generation of children in the Pahadi Korwa tribal settlements are now glowing with the light of hope, like little fireflies. Under the PM Janman Scheme, the Anganwadi Center built in Darripara Kutma village of Jashpur district resembles a playschool in a metropolitan city — small colorful tables, a TV playing Gulzar’s song “Lakdi Ki Kaathi,” and playful engagement with the outside world through fun-filled learning.
This transformation is a result of the PM Janman Scheme, initiated under the directives of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, with the goal of ensuring every possible basic facility in Pahadi Korwa tribal hamlets. Following this vision, the Department of Women and Child Development has approved 17 Anganwadi centers under the scheme in the district.
The Kutma Anganwadi is set up like a small playschool — filled with toys, play-based learning tools, and bright, clean infrastructure. The children are provided with school uniforms. The center is neat, organized, and fully equipped — even in the remotest tribal settlements, this scheme is creating new hope.
Under the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, these Anganwadi centers are being built. District Collector Mr. Rohit Vyas has ensured all basic facilities, including clean drinking water through RO systems.
District Panchayat CEO Mr. Abhishek Kumar shared that children under the age of six are provided with hot meals daily, and regular health check-ups are conducted to track nutritional goals.
District Program Officer Mr. Ajay Sharma said their aim is to ensure that children learn through play and adopt good health habits, so they remain well-nourished and healthy. For instance, children are taught to wash hands before meals, so it becomes a part of their routine.
He added that the feedback from Anganwadi workers has been overwhelmingly positive. Due to the child-friendly and engaging atmosphere of these centers, children enjoy spending time there, resulting in a significant increase in attendance.
For these tribal settlements, which have been deprived of basic facilities for years, the PM Janman Scheme brings a new ray of hope. With its rapid implementation, an entire generation is now preparing to actively participate in the building of a developed Chhattisgarh.
