Election Commission of India Organizes Two-Day Conference of Chief Electoral Officers Across the Country

The Election Commission of India has organized a conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of all states and union territories of the country on March 4 and 5. This two-day conference has been organized at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in New Delhi. In the conference, Chief Electoral Officers from across the country will discuss key areas of modern election management including IT architecture, effective communication, increasing social media outreach, statutory roles of various officials in election processes.
This is the first conference of Chief Electoral Officers after the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner of India, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, took charge. For this, the Commission has directed all Chief Electoral Officers to nominate one DEO (District Election Officer) and ERO (Electoral Registration Officer) each from their respective states and union territories. As statutory authorities, CEOs, DEOs, and EROs are important officials at the state, district, and assembly constituency levels.
This two-day conference of Chief Electoral Officers will provide a platform for election officials of states and union territories to brainstorm and learn from each other’s experiences. On the first day of the conference, discussions will be held on key areas of modern election management, including IT architecture, effective communication, increasing social media outreach, and statutory roles of various officials in election processes. On the second day, CEOs of states and union territories will present their action plans on the discussions held on various topics on the first day.
