Bastar Region Moving Towards New Opportunities and Achievements: CM Sai

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon is not just a sporting event but has become a symbol of Bastar’s rich culture, peace, and development. Thousands of runners from India and abroad participated in this prestigious marathon, spreading a strong message of harmony and prosperity. He highlighted that this event not only promotes local sports talent but also strengthens social cohesion and unity.
CM Sai called this event a moment of pride for Bastar, emphasizing that the state government’s efforts have opened new avenues for peace and development in the region. He recalled the historic participation of over 1.65 lakh athletes in the Bastar Olympics, proving that Bastar is now progressing toward new possibilities and achievements. The state government is making every possible effort to nurture regional talent, and this marathon is a significant step in that direction.
Sports & Development Driving Positive Change in Bastar
Praising the event, CM Sai said that sports and development are bringing positive transformations to the Bastar region. The Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon is not just a race; it is a powerful medium to promote peace and harmony in the area. He announced that in the coming years, this event will be expanded further to gain international recognition for Bastar.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the marathon helps raise awareness about sports and provides new opportunities for local youth. He expressed confidence that this event would play a key role in establishing a positive global image of Bastar. CM Sai extended his best wishes to all the participants and wished them a bright future.
Historic Participation of Thousands of Runners & Exciting Competitions
The Abujhmad Peace Half Marathon 2025, held in Narayanpur district, saw over 11,000 runners, including top national and international athletes, competing fiercely.
In the Men’s 21 km category, Akshay Kumar from Uttar Pradesh secured 1st place, completing the race in 1 hour, 2 minutes, and 15 seconds.
In the Women’s 21 km category, Hewot Gebrewahid from Ethiopia won by finishing in 1 hour, 13 minutes, and 1 second.
The 10 km and 5 km categories also had thrilling races, with Amrita Patel from Uttar Pradesh and Sonika Rajwade from Surajpur winning the Women’s 10 km and 5 km categories, respectively.
In the Men’s 10 km category, Monu Kumar from Uttar Pradesh emerged victorious, while local athletes excelled in the 5 km race.
Attractive Prizes and Honors for Winners
1st place winners received a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh.
2nd place winners were awarded ₹1 lakh.
3rd place winners received ₹75,000.
The top 10 finishers were also rewarded.
Local talents were honored with a cash prize of ₹5,000 each.
The marathon was inaugurated by Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Forest & Climate Change, Water Resources, Skill Development, and Cooperation Shri Kedar Kashyap, along with MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap and Dharsiwa MLA Shri Anuj Sharma. The event saw the presence of Bastar IG Sundarraj P, Collector Pratishtha Mamgain, senior officials, public representatives, social organization leaders, and thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
