Chhattisgarh sets new record in paddy procurement: 149.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy procured

In Chhattisgarh, a record 149.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been procured under the minimum support price by the state government in this Kharif season. This includes 81.98 lakh metric tonnes of thick paddy, 10.75 lakh metric tonnes of thin paddy and 56.52 lakh metric tonnes of Sarna paddy. This paddy procurement is the biggest record since the formation of the state. The paddy procurement process, which started on November 14, 2024 and continued till January 31, 2025, saw 25,49,592 registered farmers of the state selling paddy. In lieu of paddy procurement, Rs 31 thousand 89 crore has been paid to the farmers under the bank linking system. Mahasamund district is at the first position in the state by procuring the highest 11.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. While Bemetra district is at the second position by procuring 9.38 lakh metric tonnes of paddy and Balodabazar-Bhatapara district has achieved the third position by procuring 8.56 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.
Food Department officials informed that along with paddy procurement, paddy is being lifted at a fast pace for custom milling. So far, DO and TO have been issued for lifting more than 123 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Against which, more than 103 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted. Paddy lifting is being done continuously through 4102 registered rice millers. Last year 144.92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was procured.
According to information received from the Food Department, 27 lakh 60 thousand 712 quintals in Bastar district, 11 lakh 97 thousand 888 quintals in Bijapur, 03 lakh 34 thousand 315 quintals in Dantewada district, 53 lakh 14 thousand 290 quintals in Kanker district, 31 lakh 24 thousand 810 quintals in Kondagaon district, 03 lakh 80 thousand 758 quintals in Narayanpur district, 9 lakh 29 thousand 389 quintals in Sukma district, 69 lakh 19 thousand 834 quintals in Bilaspur district, 14 lakh 05 thousand 797 quintals in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, 63 lakh 27 thousand 930 quintals in Janjgir-Champa district, 29 lakh 15 thousand 548 quintals in Korba district, 55 lakh 60 thousand 324 quintals in Mungeli district, 50 lakh 87 thousand 976 quintals in Raigarh district, 51 lakh 37 thousand 411 quintals in Shakti district and 46 lakh 56 thousand 713 quintals of paddy have been procured in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district.
Similarly, 75 lakh 65 thousand 598 quintals in Balod district, 57 lakh 61 thousand 71 quintals in Durg district, 64 lakh 93 thousand 622 quintals in Kabirdham district, 70 lakh 14 thousand 883 quintals in Rajnandgaon district, 40 lakh 37 thousand 641 quintals in Khairagarh-Chuikhadan-Gandai district, 2 lakh 22 thousand 426 quintals in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district, 61 lakh 98 thousand 136 quintals in Dhamtari district, 53 lakh 53 thousand 499 quintals in Gariaband district, 69 lakh 97 thousand 417 quintals in Raipur district, 29 lakh 70 thousand 361 quintals in Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, 37 lakh 39 thousand 371 quintals in Jashpur district, 12 lakh 84 thousand 751 quintals in Korea district, 36 lakh 46 thousand 903 quintals in Surguja district, 39 lakh 72 thousand 44 quintals in Surajpur district and 9 lakh 69 thousand 895 quintals of paddy have been procured in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district.
