Former Naxals begin new lives after surrendering and getting married in presence of Chief Minister

Raipur, January 13

A new chapter of love and trust is being written in the dense forests of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, replacing Maoist violence. Mahesh-Hemla and Madkam-Ravva, who left the path of Maoist violence and joined the mainstream, have started a new chapter of their married life by tying the knot in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

The Chief Minister congratulated the newlyweds and wished them a happy married life. This story reflects the changing picture of Sukma district, where once guns echoed, now wedding bells ring.

It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai had arrived at the Mini Stadium in Sukma on January 13 to inaugurate development projects worth more than Rs 206 crore. Approximately seven months ago, Mausam Mahesh and Hemla, Madkam Pandu and Ravva Bhime, who had surrendered after leaving the path of Naxal violence, had requested the Sukma district administration to start a new life by tying the knot in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.

The district administration had assured them that whenever Chief Minister Shri Sai would visit Sukma, their marriage would be solemnized under the Chief Minister’s Kanya Vivah Yojana on that day. Today, on January 13, during the Chief Minister’s visit to Sukma, the marriage of these four surrendered people was solemnized in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Sai, witnessed by thousands of people present there. Everyone blessed the newlyweds and wished them a happy married life.

It may be noted that Mausam Mahesh from Gaganpalli village, Hemla Munni from Dubbamarka, Madkam Pandu from Kanhaipaad, and Ravva Bhime from Sallatong were all previously associated with the Naxal organization. Influenced by the policies of the Chhattisgarh government, all four of them surrendered in June 2024, leaving the path of Naxal violence. Mausam Mahesh was associated with the Naxal organization for about twelve years. Madkam Pandu and Hemla Munni were associated with the Naxal organization and its activities for 9 years, and Ravva Bhime for 6 years.

After tying the knot and receiving blessings from Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Mahesh-Hemla and Madkam-Ravva said that they deeply regret going astray and being involved in violence. Influenced by the Chhattisgarh government’s Naxal rehabilitation policy and Niyadd Nalla Nar Yojana, all four of them decided to join the mainstream of development and peace. They said that many young colleagues associated with various Naxal organizations have surrendered and many others have decided to surrender, influenced by the people-friendly policies of the government.

They said that the Chhattisgarh government has given an opportunity to the Naxals to return to the mainstream and live a respectable life. Surrendered Naxals are getting employment, housing, and financial assistance for rehabilitation. This story is not only a victory of love but also a symbol of the success of the Chhattisgarh government’s Naxal rehabilitation policy. By tying the knot, these four young people have proved that love, trust, and compassion can defeat hatred and violence.
