109 candidates filed nominations for the post of Mayor, 816 for the posts of Chairperson, and 10,776 for the post of Councilor

Under the Municipal General Election 2025, a total of 109 candidates filed nominations for the post of Mayor in the 10 corporations of the state. Similarly, a total of 816 candidates for the post of Chairperson in the Municipal Councils and Town Councils and a total of ten thousand 776 candidates for the post of Councilor in all the urban local bodies filed their nominations by the due date of January 28.

Under the Municipal General Election 2025, general elections are to be held for 10 municipal corporations, 49 municipal councils, and 114 town councils of the state. The election dates were announced by the Chhattisgarh State Election Commission on January 20. With the publication of the election notification on January 22, the nomination process was started and January 28, 2025, Tuesday, was fixed as the last date for receiving nomination papers. Candidates can withdraw their names till January 31. The date of January 31, 2025, has also been fixed for preparing the list of candidates contesting the elections, publishing it, and allotting election symbols. Polling will be held on February 11 and counting and declaration of election results will be on February 15.
The 10 Municipal Corporations of Chhattisgarh state where elections are to be held include Municipal Corporation Jagdalpur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Korba, Ambikapur, and Chirmiri.
Similarly, elections for the posts of Chairperson and Councilors are to be held in 49 Municipal Councils, which include – Bijapur, Kirandul, Badi-Bacheli, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Kawardha, Pandaria, Kumhari Ahivara, Amleshwar, Dalli Rajhara, Balod, Bemetara, Dongargarh, Mahasamund Bagbahra, Saraipali, Tilda-Nevra, Gobranawapara, Arang, Abhanpur, Mandir Hasaud, Gariaband, Balodabazar, Bhatapara, Simga, Takhatpur, Ratanpur, Bodri, Gorela, Pendra, Mungeli Lormi, Kharsia, Janjgir-Naila, Champa, Akaltara, Sakti, Deepika, Katghora, Banki-Mongra, Balrampur, Ramanujganj, Surajpur, Manendragarh, and Jashpurnagar.
Similarly, elections are to be held for 114 town councils, which include Geedam, Barsur, Dornapal, Bastar, Pharasgaon, Keshkal, Bhanupratappur, Charama, Pakhanjur, Antagarh, Bodla, Pandatarai, Sahaspur-Lohara, Pipariya, Indori, Dhamdha, Patan, Utai, Dondi, Dondilohara, Chikhalkasa, Gurur, Arjunda, Gunderdehi, Nawagarh, Saja, Berla, Thankhamharia. Similarly, Devkar, Parpodi, Dadhi, Bhimbori, Kusmi, Dongargaon Chhuria, Lalbahadur Nagar, Gandai, Chhuikhadan, Ambagarh Chowki, Kurud, Magarlod, Nagari, Bhakhara, Aamdi, Pithaura, Basna, Tumgaon, Kharora, Mana Camp, Kura, Chandrakhuri, Samoda, Rajim, Chhura, Fingeshwar, Kopra, Devbhog, Kasdol, Palari, Lavan, Tunda, Rohansi, Kota, Bilha, Malhar, Marwahi, Patharia are included, where elections will be held. Sirgaon, Berla, Jarhagaon, Dharamjaigarh, Gharghoda, Lailunga, Kirodimalnagar, Pusaur, Baloda, Kharod, Shivरीनarayan, Saragaon, Nawagarh, Rahod, Pamgarh, Nariyara, Dabra, Jaijaipur, Nayabara, Adbhar, Chandrapur, Pali, Chhurikala, Sitapur, Lakhanpur, Kusmi, Rajpur, Wadrafnagar, Vishrampur, Pratappur, Jarhi, Bhatgaon, Patna, Jhagrakhand, Khongapani, Nai Ledri, Janakpur, Pathalgaon, Kotba, Bagicha and Kunkuri are included, where elections will be held.
Similarly, by-elections will be held in Ward No. 24 and Ward No. 35 of Municipal Corporation Bhilai in District Durg, Ward No. 32 of Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda and Ward No. 34 of Municipal Corporation Risali and Ward No. 13 of Town Council Konta in Bastar Division, District Sukma.
There are a total of 192 urban local bodies in Chhattisgarh state, out of which elections are to be held in 19 urban local bodies in the year 2026, which include 04 Municipal Corporations – Municipal Corporation Birgaon, Municipal Corporation Bhilai, Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda and Municipal Corporation Risali. Similarly, 05 Municipal Councils, which include Municipal Council Sarangarh, Municipal Council Baikunthpur, Municipal Council Shivpurcharcha, Municipal Council Jamul and Municipal Council Khairagarh. Similarly, 10 Town Councils include Town Council Bamhinidih, Town Council Premnagar, Town Council Shivnandanpur, Town Council Palari, Town Council Maro, Town Council Ghumka, Town Council Konta, Town Council Narharpur, Town Council Bhairamgarh and Town Council Bhopalpattnam, where elections will be held in 2026.
