Birsa Agricultural University (BAU) is organising three-day eastern region regional Agrotech, 2021 Fair from March 5 to 7 to apprise the farmers and agro-entrepreneurs with latest technologies of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fishery, forestry, biotechnology, dairy, bee keeping, farm mechanization, food processing and value addition, village and cottage industries. Central theme of the event is ‘Rural prosperity through diversification of agricultural enterprises.’
BAU Vice Chancellor Dr Onkar Nath Singh informed that over 145 stalls have been put up where different departments, faculties, colleges, units, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and Zonal Research Stations of BAU, ICAR Institutes of the region, government departments, banks, and dealers of seeds, fertilizers, farm implements, NGOs and other organizations would display their technologies, products and services. Participation of farmers from five states- Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odhisa and Chhattisgarh is expected.
Governor Draupadi Murmu will inaugurate the event on March 5 while Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be the chief guest of the valedictory session on March 7. Horticulture shows comprising fruits, vegetables, flowers, flower arrangements, spices, decorative, medicinal, aromatic plants and animal-bird shows consisting of cattle, buffalo, pig, sheep, goat, poultry, duck will be part of the exhibition. Display and sale of seeds, planting material, fertilizers, farm implements and value added processed agro products, free testing of soil samples, visit of experimental areas and screening of video films on modern farm technologies are other features of the event.
Eleven major sub themes under which technologies are to be displayed are natural resource management, crop production and integrated farming system, crop improvement, plant protection, secondary agriculture, post harvest technology as well as value addition, farm mechanization and energy management, seed and inputs, ICT and marketing management, higher education in agriculture, forest resource utilization and agroforestry, horticulture show, and animal health management.
